What works

The Tandy VIS machine is a embedded Windows 3.x PC so in theory it should run in any Windows machine, or Linux with Wine...

However, in reality, the programs are optimized for the VIS hardware and several issues can surface...

- If you put the original CD-ROM or mount a ISO file, just open the mounted folder and click on /gwv/wdgwv.exe to run...

- It is possible to search, explore the contents using the keyboard (The VIS controller key-codes are assigned to commons standard keyboard keys).

- Unless you disdain low resolution screens (320*240 !), the program are usable in a window, but actually using the program inside a screen resolution of 1920*1080 or 4K it would be laughable small to use the program, even for nostalgia purposes.

 - Image attachments appears to open fine...

What does not

 And not appears to work...

- Any sound clip, even Tandy VIS uses the mmsystem.dll to handle the multimedia files, the main problem appears to be the fact the VIS Sound chip are not Sound Blaster compatible, and uses instead a proprietary Adlib codec.

Workarounds

What was not tested

- The program appears to be stable, but I don't tested more than two minutes in each experiments.

Additional Comments

Actually this software barely is usable to any real world use, and also exposes one of the worst so-called "multimedia consoles", like the VIS Tandy, very expensive on launch ($700 in early 1993), and hardly justiciable since some titles can run on standard PC without any emulator (Wine is a compatibility layer, and a General Purpose emulator) at all!
