On modern operating systems, you may encounter the following error upon clicking Print, Load Dress or Quit:
"An error occurred while opening a window."
...which is then followed by a Visual C++ runtime error. This is due to an oversight with the developers who either forgot to test the game on NT or just didn't care as the latter is a business-grade OS, and few, if any, children, would happen to have those on their computers at the time.
As Wine is based on the Windows NT API it is more or less doubtful that the CreateWindowEx call would account for older programs, hence the need for an unofficial patch to address this issue. You can find a download link to the patch here or on this mirror site.
Run the patch as you would with any program, follow the onscreen instructions, then start the game as usual. You'll now be able to play the game as originally intended. ;)
