Resolving Screen Stretching
by erika jonell on Friday November 18th 2016, 8:17
While there is no current way to stop SWTOR from incorrectly getting your display ratio (i.e., setting 4x3 on a 16x9 monitor), you can use wine to force it to use the proper ratio by utilizing the emulated virtual desktop in winecfg under the graphics tab.

I personally use 1600x900 and have swtor run in windowed (fullscreen) and it properly uses the correct screen ratio (16x9) for my desktop. FYI - this doesn't appear to limit fullscreen to 1600x900 in my case, but forces the correct 16x9 ratio as i get fullscreen in the proper ratio on my 1920x1080 display.

Happy Gaming! :D

You have replied to some of my comments regarding SWTOR on Mint Linux using various versions of Wine.
I'm preparing to switch to OpenSUSE Tumbleweed to see if I can replicate a "Platinum" experience in SWTOR.

Do you run swtor_fix.exe before the launcher, or are you using a patched version of Wine?
Are you using the script recommended for swtor_fix.exe or running everything manually using terminal commands?
What did you install using winetricks? d3dx9 and vcrun2008 only or more?
How much of a wait do you have between clicking "Play" and seeing the splash screen, and then the character selection screen?
