What works
Everything works except for Cloud Sync, minor display errors and occasional crashes.
What does not
MLO has two ways to sync remotely so that you can harmonise data between your laptop & desktop & mobile. You can sync your mobile directly via WiFi with your laptop/desktop, and then sync the laptop/desktop to each other using FTP to a file stored on a web server.
However, if you do that, you can only sync the mobile to one other device. If you try to sync to both devices (or multiple devices), the sync doesn't work properly with some older dates & notes overwriting newer ones. This is not a Linux or Wine problem, this happens whatever OS you use.
I have had extensive discussions with the developer about this, and whilst he is very helpful there is no plan to fix this bug. The reason being that the other sync method is a paid service, where you set up a cloud account and sync all devices to this account. That works fine in Windows, but cloud sync doesn't work in my Ubuntu 16.04 environment.
The workaround is to sync the Windows desktop and mobile using cloud sync, and then sync the Ubuntu laptop to the Windows desktop using FTP sync. This can all be automated, so once set up there is no effort involved.
However, if you are using an all-Linux environment, you will only be able to sync one device to your mobile because you will be limited to FTP sync for your computer and direct WiFi sync for your mobile.
I cannot speak for iPhones or Macs because I don't do anything Apple, although the software is available for both.
The only other problems that I have noticed with running MLO in Wine on Ubuntu 16.04 is a minor display error with the notes appearing on the wrong line, which is easily fixed by adjusting the column width, and occasional exceptions which crash the application. Restarting fixes this with no data loss.
