Game is installed by Steam. Starts up and launches. Intro sequence runs nicely. Most colors and objects appear to render correctly now. Sounds generally work. Research scanner effects. Terrain dig, build, and flatten effects. Tethers. Base platforms and building resource tooltips.
What does not
Dust particle effects render as very bright white boxes. From viewing other systems rendering these should have been a much less intrusive light grey.
Occasionally connecting to tethers causes the tank filling sound effect to enter a quick loop of repeats that can be very annoying. Opening the tool or similar action that causes some alternative effect to happen generally ends the loop.
Hung for a minute and crashed once, after a relatively fast camera movement to scan entire horizon and sky.
Apart from the dust these appear to be regular bugs in the game, not wine.
What was not tested
Interplanetary travel. Newer terrain tool adaptors. Vehicles. Multiplayer.
Using i7 8-core Kabylake CPU with the Intels built-in graphics hardware. On this hardware pairing earlier wine versions 2.8-2.9 refused to run this game due to "missing DirectX 11 compatibility level 10 support". Wine Staging 2.10 and Linux kernel 4.11 seem to both be needed for these successful results.
