What works

Version  64-bit (!) installs fine, starts and runs.

Program seems to work in all modes while in demo installation:

  • Reads and analyses DVD/BD
  • Copies / rips / shrinks content to BD-R / DVD-R size or to file
  • Converts from disks to a bunch of formats
  • Creates DVD / BD disc or ISO file out of own video material including its encoding for desired disc size

Even running this version and the latest 11.x 32-bit version in parallel reading from different devices works without any problems or crashes

Due to local laws I can only test on unencrypted discs, but I believe the decryption features should also work fine.

Please note, as DVDFab 10.x and 11.x 32-bit installations seem to work fine, but only version in 64-bit runs at all.
This test is for 64-bit version of DVDFab.

What does not

What was not tested

Not all functions tested as they were not available due to testing license having expired

Not all options to be found in the menus were tested yet. But all major parts run fine, so far.

Due to local law situation only unencrypted discs were tested.

Hardware tested

  • GPU: Nvidia
  • Driver: proprietary

Additional Comments

Please note, only DVDFab version 64-bit (or older) works.
More recent versions, such as DVDFab 64-bit, crash when starting.

HowTo / Notes

As version DVDFAb 10.x.x.x is not currently supported by Wine (as of version 2.0-rc3) you are recommend to download an older release of DVDFab:
DVDFab 9 for Windows XP (version
which is better supported - when run under Wine.

DVDFab10 under wine 2.0-1
by Matthias on Saturday February 4th 2017, 7:42

i can install DVDFab with:

sudo pacman -S lib32-libldap
sudo pacman -S lib32-gnutls

WINEPREFIX=~/.wine_dvdfab WINEARCH=win32 wine Downloads/DVDFab10.0.2.0.exe
WINEPREFIX=~/.wine_dvdfab WINEARCH=win32 wine DVDFab.exe

It reads the Bluray from my external drive fine. The fonts seem to be not natural, but i think there are some packages missing :)

Wine: wine 2.0-1

It's still segfaulting for me... I've tested it with a few different distributions now. I can only get DVDFab 10 to run in Virtualbox (with Ubuntu Mate) - even there it's not very stable...
So I'm leaving my recommendation to stick with DVDFab9 (XP) for the present... Well till they update DVDFab 10 with a working version!

Test with:

[ebuild R ~] app-emulation/wine-2.1::bobwya USE="X alsa cups fontconfig gecko gphoto2 gsm gstreamer jpeg lcms ldap mono mp3 ncurses nls openal opencl opengl osmesa png pulseaudio realtime run-exes samba scanner ssl threads truetype udev udisks xcomposite xinerama xml -capi -custom-cflags -dos -netapi -odbc -oss -pcap -perl -prelink (-selinux) {-test} -v4l" ABI_X86="32 64 (-x32)" LINGUAS="en en_US -ar -bg -ca -cs -da -de -el -eo -es -fa -fi -fr -he -hi -hr -hu -it -ja -ko -lt -ml -nb_NO -nl -or -pa -pl -pt_BR -pt_PT -rm -ro -ru -sk -sl -sr_RS@cyrillic -sr_RS@latin -sv -te -th -tr -uk -wa -zh_CN -zh_TW" 0 KiB

still crashing on my system.

Only getting (in the console):
err:seh:raise_exception Unhandled exception code c0000005 flags 0 addr (nil)

Also required wine-mono to connect internet.

wine 2.11 (WINEARCH=win32)
On ArchLinux (x86_64)

Works for me.
