What works

Everything works actually amazingly. I had tested this game about 5 years ago and it did not work. Tested with the latest and it worked perfect. It actually loaded and I could play for hours. Tested video settings, saving, loading and well, about 40+ hours of game time.

 I also tested the update to 1.0.7.4 and even updated to the unofficial latest patch. I also applied the highres patch and it works perfect in my case for 1280x1024 and 1920x1080.

 This really changes my perspective on the game.
