What works

Almost everything tested:

  • Menu
  • Graphic settings
  • Controls
  • Benchmark
  • Cutscenes
  • Gameplay
  • War table
  • Windowed fullscreen mode
  • Crafting
  • Combat
  • Rendering works quite well using Wine's d3dx10 (but it won't start with d3d11).

What does not

  • Cursor acts funny in windowed mode.
  • Fullscreen mode may freeze when switching applications.
  • Note that windowed fullscreen works perfectly, and some of the aforementioned bugs be caused by i3wm (tiling window manager).

Workarounds

  • Switch the mode to windowed fullscreen.
  • Use Wine's d3dx10, as DXVK gives an error on Haswell's integrated graphics.

What was not tested

  • Multiplayer
  • Importing saves

Hardware tested

Graphics:

  • GPU: Intel
  • Driver: open source

HowTo / Notes

Tips and Tricks
  • The Prefix can be made using Lutris. Go to lutris.net, find Origin and install it with DXVK. Once installed, right click on it from the Lutris window, and click on "Configure". Go to "Runner options" tab and find the box named "DXVK version", click on it and choose the version you have installed.
  • Using WINE by itself works as well. Just download and install DXVK in your prefix and you should be fine. If using an NVIDIA card, set "nvapi" and "nvapi64" DLLs to disabled in your winecfg [credit: Wolfe] (They are already set to disabled if using Lutris)
  • Having DXVK is a must. The game runs with wined3d but the rendering will be messy and incomplete. With DXVK it would be near perfect; it MAY happen that random colors show up in a small area on the screen where there are candles much near the point of view or The Breach is in sight. It does not always happen.
  • For DXVK to work, you need to have it installed both on your system and the WINEPREFIX you're using. Winetricks can be used to install dxvk in the WINEPREFIX you're using.
  • If you use a 32 bits wineprefix, make sure both dxvk 32 and 64 bit versions are installed.
  • After the game is fully downloaded, the Play button may be greyed out. To fix that, click on the gear icon and select Repair. After the repair is done, the Play button should be active.
