What works

Viewing and editing documents, Using MS login account, and getting downloads or templates, with some workarounds.

What does not

Logging onto microsoft account (solved) and saving documents (crash produced...annoyingly and Initially Save As crashed every time!)

This seems like a bug with recent documents or else with the Save As screen...not able to reproduce it though.

Workarounds

Changing some of the Save and Advanced Options including moving all the way down to 0 for Recent Documents/Folders, and now the problem is not reproducible again.

The login issue was easily solved after microsoft login page denies further access to valid email, but accepts it on the second attempt, so just use the same email and enter it twice is what I had to do.

What was not tested

Printing, Exporting or Importing from or into Word

Running embedded objects like Graphs, Charts, and Slides into Word

  • GPU: Intel
  • Driver: open source

As of now it seems that every Direct2D call causes at least Word to crash.

Steps to reproduce the crash:

- Open a new Word document
- Use the headline template
- write two or more headlines
- the application will crash while attempting to call an Direct2D Function

for example:

Backtrace:
=>0 0x7a9d03a3 in dwrite (+0x303a3) (0x0032e218)
1 0x7a9d0da6 in dwrite (+0x30da5) (0x0032e258)
2 0x7a9cac87 in dwrite (+0x2ac86) (0x0032e2c8)

dwrite is the DirectWrite Function implemented in Direct2D.
