Additional Comments

Smite will install in Wine 2.13 with persistence. I recommend running it in Wine 2.13-staging. It may crash several times during download/install. It may reinstall the entire game. It may ask to install pre-requisites multiple times. It might inform you a pre-requisite failed to install. Keep restarting HirezLauncherUI.exe everytime it freezes or crashes. Eventually, it will install everything and run smoothly after that. For reference: I installed Smite in its own WINEPREFIX under a WINEARCH of win32. I installed 'd3dx10 d3dx11_43 d3dx9_43 directx9 dotnet40 gdiplus vcrun2008 vcrun2010 xact wininet' using winetricks. I launched SmiteInstall.exe from I downloaded, installed the game, and downloaded and installed any pre-requisites that it requested of me but did not allow background updating. I was persistent and everytime HirezLauncherUI.exe crashed or froze I stopped HirezLauncherUI.exe by passing it a sigint(Ctrl+c in the shell the program was started in) and restarted the wineserver ('wineserver -k'). Note: To launch Smite from HirezLauncherUI.exe, pass 'game=300 product=17' to Wine. Such as 'wine "path/to/HirezLauncherUI.exe" game=300 product=17'. The reason for this is becase Hi Rez uses the same launcher for their entire library(Paladins, Smite, etc.) and passes those variables to the launcher to determine what product to present to the user.

64-bit prefix
by Tod Jackson on Wednesday October 11th 2017, 2:38
Hi again. Winetricks from current git can install dotnet40 on a 64-bit prefix. I confirmed it works with the Smite installer on the non-Steam version.
I needed an additional winetrick

What Sybil has written is spot on. As long as the listed winetricks are installed, especially dotnet40 in a 32-bit Windows XP prefix, the game will eventually install. I had to kill processes during prerequisites install 5+ times, but eventually it got through.

However, I also had to add another registry tweak so that I could completely rotate my character: winetricks grabfullscreen=y

Performance is a little lower than on Windows, but as I have an Intel HD 4000, you might not notice too much with beefier hardware. Also, I was too afraid to test the new D3D 11 in-game option. ;)
