Install - worked perfectly provided the workaround below is used (otherwise not).
Logging flights, saving databases, calculating hours etc.
eMaestro internet connectivity is temperamental. If the install sequence is not followed exactly then the Airline function to eMaestro will crash mshtml.dll and pilotlog - Jet40 (and associated MDAC2.7) MUST be installed before IE8.
If the install sequence was correct then the eMaestro function will still fail unless 'Slow Connectivity' is selected due to timeouts due to slow functioning of IE8 components.
Even with 'Slow Connectivity' checked there are still connection problems with 'a server call did not complete successfully' errors and crashes of wine dlls (msxml3) causing pilotlog to crash if more than one flight is attempted.
What does not
Airline connectivity very slow leading to failed connections/retries - see above.
If IE8 is installed before JET40 then connectivity will crash the program (n mshtml.dll).
What was not tested
Sequence of steps to install: 1. Ensured wine installed with correct gecko and mono and winetricks. Ensure wine is set to Windows XP in winecfg. 2. Install MS Jet40 with winetricks - this will automatically download and install mdac27 prior to Jet40. Jet40 MUST be installed prior to IE8. 3. Install ie8 with 'winetricks ie8'. Run ie8, wait for post install sequence, accept settings, but ensure all updates etc. are not chosen. 4. Go to your airline's rostering website e.g. eMaestro with ie8 and check you can log in and download data. If you can't MCC pilotlog probably won't be able to either. 5. Install MCC pilot log (xp version) 6. Use the icon on the desktop to launch pilotlog and follow the normal sequence of updates etc.
