What works

Downloading books.

Opening and closing books works most of the time.

What does not

When you run the program and if it is not registered with Amazon, it tries to do so, and this causes it to lock up at a black screen. See workaround below.

Registering with Amazon. If you deregister and try to register it, it will again give you the black screen.

Pressing F11 to view document will display the document in full screen for a few seconds, but then crashes (This feature works perfectly with version 1.16).

Sometimes you get a random crash while reading a book.

Workarounds

If you can find an older version of Kindle for PC, you can use that to register with Amazon. Simply run the old version, select Tools -> Options, select the Registration entry,  and click register. This worked fine for me using version 1.16. Once you do that, this version (1.20.1) should work. I had to use version 1.16 to register with Amazon, as that version works fine. Now the newer version is working fine. This can really bite you because if you don't know to do this, you will run the program and get a black screen and you will probably never get past it.

Additional Comments

I give it a Bronze rating because of the workaround required to get it registered and working. If you don't know to do this, you will be stuck at the black screen and probably never get it to work. Once you get it registered as described in the workaround above, it works good, but if you don't know do to this, all you get is a black screen. It also tends to crash randomly. FWIW, version 1.16 works very well, it appears this newer version is either buggy or has some problems with Wine.
