v2.22 especially addresses Wine compatibility issues.

These are the changes:

  • Performance: The structure of the journal was drastically accelerated.
  • Bugfix: Backup Options dialog sometimes appeared with each save and not just after the set interval
  • Wine support: The Backup Options dialog box when saving is not the Windows command buttons that Wine is not capable of displaying, but normal
    buttons.
  • Wine support: The Plugin Manager now works on Linux, because it no longer uses a Windows command (CMD.EXE) to update, but a small Updater utility is now used (ECTUpdater.exe).

With the improved Wine support of this version (and the Command Link Button workaround of the Backup Options dialog of the previous version), I dare to rise the rating to Gold.

  • JavaScript plugins are still not entrely supported. The Gecko-Integration that simulates the Internet Explorer functionality EC&T uses to process JavaScript already can handle program settings in JavaScript plugins, but not the actual bookkeeping data.
