No other workaround is needed beside DXVK.
Regression
by Annie Leonheart on Monday July 16th 2018, 7:53
Game still not working as of Ubuntu 18.04 and wine 3.11.
It worked previously on Ubuntu 17.10 and older version of Wine, stopped working after I updated to 18.04.
Couldn't figure out what made it regress exactly. It throws an exception when trying to go Ingame.
unhandled exception after updating to Ubuntu 18.04
by Bryan Willis on Monday May 21st 2018, 0:02
Worked perfectly for me on 16.04, but after upgrading to 18.04 The game boots, but whenever I try to start a new file or load an existing one, it will immediately crash and give me:

wine: Unhandled page fault on read access to 0x15e000002a0 at address 0x1405c1282 (thread 00f4), starting debugger...

I don't have a clue what is causing this, or if this game is just perma-broke on ubuntu 18.04, but any help would be ULTRA appreciated. Thanks a bunch.

I tested it with Steam Play and it ran, but it ran miserably. Like 12 fps on a GTX 970 with dirt low settings, whereas on my old wine build I was getting a smooth FPS. Know what might cause this?
Denuvo bypass?
by Bobby on Saturday January 6th 2018, 8:23
What is this "denuvo bypass"?? The game isn't running for me, just crashes.

No idea, you don't need any, just run from Steam and wait a few minutes. It takes a while for Steam to start the game on my setup, but it works.
Low Perfomance
by Gena on Saturday July 22nd 2017, 7:02
Anyone have low perfomance?
I have 2.12 wine-staging with csmt option enabled and have low perfomance.

In Windows I install FAR, disable Global Illumination and it makes my perfomance playable. Can I disable Global Illumination in Linux?

In my case stay searching for that but nothing for now

Maybe in feature FAR will working :)
Graphical issues on radeonsi
by Philip Rebohle on Friday July 21st 2017, 13:13
Anyone else having problems with the game not rendering correctly? Certain areas (particularly the desert region) are excessively bright, even when using the lowest possible brightness setting in-game. Then again I've heard reports from other people that the game renders fine on radeonsi.

My setup: wine 2.12-staging, RX 480, Mesa 17.1.5 on Arch Linux. Clean wine prefix with CSMT enabled and only steam installed.

Sadly, neither apitrace nor renderdoc seem to work with wine so I cannot give details on where exactly things are going wrong. This happens regardless of the settings used in game.

Yes, please see the attached bug "NieR:Automata - Bloom to bright".

On a side note, apitrace certainly does work in wine. Use wine to run apitrace.exe, it will make the game crash most of the time, but if you try often enough you can take a trace. I made and published one.
Gamepad Support
by Fabian Maurer on Wednesday July 19th 2017, 19:49
An idea how to use gamepads with this game? On windows I used x360ce for the game to recognize my gamepad, on wine this doesn't work.

use something like sc-controller or Steam big picture (native linux) to bind it to keyboard keys and rstick to mouse, then bind kb+m ingame.
RE: Gamepad Support
by Fabian Maurer on Friday July 21st 2017, 1:18
Well, I'm using antimicro and it works fairly nice, but has its own set of problems.

1) I can't put evade on its own key, I need to double tab my analog-stick and I can't really use it like that.
2) Still need to use Enter for the menu, doesn't work with the gamepad only
3) Can't use items with the D-Pad like I'm used to

That's why I'd prefer getting nature gamepad support, it must work some way.
RE: Gamepad Support
by Pependos on Tuesday August 8th 2017, 6:22
1) Try to assign your gamepad button with keyboard "P" key. As I read, "Auto-Run" in control settings equal to "Evade". Once again, Auto-Run = Evade.
2) If you have any additional button on your gamepad, there is no problem to assign it with "Enter". On my DualShock3 it is a "PS" button.
3) Antimicro has a "key combination" feature (bottom-left corner of key assign window, "Advanced"), so you can easily assign "up" on your D-Pad with "ALT+UpArrow" (an so on) as you can see in "Controls" section in NieR settings.

Can't confirm that autorun equals evade, doesn't work reliably.
I tried mapping the other keys, but it still is a hacky workaround, and I'd prefer native support.

I think you can use x360ce otherwise koku-xinput-wine works for sure (use version with 64 bit support from: github.com/berenm/koku-xinput-wine/tree/cleanup)
That's not a How-To or Note
by Isaac Witherspoon on Monday July 17th 2017, 13:32
Please remove the "how-to/note" that has been added, while you have chosen to become a maintainer for this application, you are not in charge of standards for testing results, system specs have never been required, and any unsupported Wine version's testing results would not be allowed anyways. Please keep that space clear for concentrating information on keeping the application functional.
RE: That's not a How-To or Note

Main goal of note is prevent users uploaded incomplete results

System specs are needed for users how to know in which machines game runs and without forget them can know to with driver version (apply to closed ot open source drivers) game runs
