What does not
So far so good.
What was not tested
Created a dedicated 32bit prefix: export WINEPREFIX=~/.wine-paladins export WINEARCH=win32 winecfg Prepped it with the latest winetricks: winetricks d3dx10 d3dx11_42 d3dx11_43 d3dx9_43 directx9 dotnet35sp1 dotnet40 flash gdiplus vcrun2008 vcrun2010 xact wininet (if winetricks stops in the middle and asks you to download stuff, you will need to delete the prefix before re-running winetricks - there is a conflicting dependency with .net 2.0) Edited my /etc/hosts file to make sure I have the IP and the name of my box (hostname) in there (by default it had 127.0.1.1 hostname). Make sure the game installer runs all the way through to completion. It might show an error in the middle complaining about .Net or VC++ installation. Ignore it as long as it shows "success" at the end. Run wineboot just in case. The HiRez Service did not have issues starting. But if you still fails to start, check its logs under drive_c\users\.user.\application data\HiRez\. Optionally, to make graphics better, run winecfg and set virtual desktop to match your monitor's resolution, enabling CSMT on the staging tab.
