Full release version R42 (Launch)
Everything working in windows is working in this wineprefix including pro. Gameplay is smooth and beautiful with all settings maxed out fullscreen or windowed.
What does not
There is only one odd thing that's not an issue in windows, but doesn't effect actual gameplay what so ever in wine. The thumbnail previews either aren't drawn or are shaded black. I've tried adding all kind of things to my wineprefix, but have yet found anything or way to correct this to get them to display properly. It has no impact on my gameplay
What was not tested
Everything was tested.
I've been playing creativerse in WINE since Sep 30, 2014 about a day before Creativerse's R3 hit and out of my current 380 hours of playtime, 300+ are in WINE on Manjaro Linux Xfce. Currently Creativerse needs corefonts, vcrun2010, vcrun2013, d3dx9, wine-mono and steam installed in either a 32 or 64 bit wineprefix, but I find less issues with 32 bit prefixes. Wine-mono will auto install on the creation of a new wineprefix by just following the install prompt when it pops up, but the rest can be all installed using current winetricks. You can also choose to just install corefonts and steam will install vcrun2010, vcrun2013 and d3dx9 when you install Creativerse from inside steam. Entering the following in a terminal using the "-q" switch for unattended installs: WINEARCH=win32 WINEPREFIX=~/.cvwine32 winetricks -q corefonts d3dx9 vcrun2010 vcrun2013 steam When prompted with the wine-mono and wine-gecko installers, install them. When it all finishes you can close the terminal window. Creativerse is a free to play game which means if you wish to install it to try for the 1st time you will need the steam store working and by default it doesn't. The store browser by default is launched in a protective "sandbox" mode, but the Steam install places a shortcut on to your desktop that we can easily modify to turn off the sandbox mode to enable the store. Right click the created Steam shortcut on your desktop ans choose "open with" then choose whatever text editor you prefer (mousepad, gedit, geany, etc..) You will see something like this: [Desktop Entry] Name=Steam Exec=env WINEPREFIX="/home/yourusename/.cvwine32" /usr/bin/wine C:\\\\windows\\\\command\\\\start.exe /Unix /home/yourusername/.cvwine32/dosdevices/c:/users/Public/Desktop/Steam.lnk Type=Application StartupNotify=true Path=/home/yourusername/.cvwine32/dosdevices/c:/Program Files/Steam Icon=BAC4_steam.0 On the 3rd line add "-no-cef-sandbox" to the end of it without the quotes so that line reads like this: Exec=env WINEPREFIX="/home/yourusername/.cvwine32" /usr/bin/wine C:\\\\windows\\\\command\\\\start.exe /Unix /home/yourusername/.cvwine32/dosdevices/c:/users/Public/Desktop/Steam.lnk -no-cef-sandbox Save your changes and that's it! Run Steam for the 1st time so it can update a few files as well on your 1st sign in you will need to verify your steam account as normal for new installs. After that's done surf to the Creativerse's Steam store page and download the game and play.
