Does not work with Wine 2.9
by Fabio on Saturday June 3rd 2017, 6:48
I have a wine64 prefix, clean. I installed all the suggested dependencies, with two exceptions:

- wmp9 cannot be installed in a wine64 prefix, so I'm not sure how OP installed it

- vbrun6 is actually called vb6run in the current version of winetricks

The game starts, I can change configuration (I've left it default, though) and then I start a new game. A few seconds into the cutscene and there's an error, a dump file is produced inside the Dump directory of Risen 3, and everything stops. Risen3.exe needs to be killed though, so I don't have a stacktrace. The errors I get are these:

pastebin.com/krFxAwFc

Any idea of what's the problem? Is this a regression with Wine 2.9?

Did you try with Wine 2.7? On my PC it works properly (most of the time, but sometimes still gets stuck).

What also helped was putting the Direct Draw Renderer to opengl.

And yes, you are right about the wmp9. I will change that in the description.

Risen 3 doesn't work properly for me too. I tested this game 1 month ago (IIRC with wine 2.13) with both Gallium Nine enabled and disabled. I saw similar results to yours. My Platform:
Gnome Ubuntu 17.04 x64 + RadeonSI drivers.

It looks like only Risen 3 standard edition is working in Wine, but not enhanced edition.
