What works

I have fully played through the game on my main system. Everything appears to work fine except for the items listed as not working.

What does not

  • The company logo videos that are played on starting the game do not work
  • Shadows are a bit buggy, particularly in indoor areas. If you look around the room you start in after starting a new game (or inside the cave on the beach nearby) this issue will be immediately obvious; this can be quite distracting so you may want to disable shadows at least when in those areas.
  • The player character's eye and gnomes' faces are rendered completely black

Workarounds

Requires physx and native d3dcompiler_43

What was not tested

I didn't do absolutely everything there is to do in the game as several playthroughs would be needed for that (for different character builds/abilities etc).

Hardware tested

Graphics:

  • GPU: AMD
  • Driver: open source

Additional Comments

This report is based on my notes and testing during the creation and maintenance of my wrapper for the GOG version of this game: https://www.gog.com/forum/rise...

Prefix configuration:

  • CSMT was enabled
  • Wine Mono and Wine Gecko were not installed

If running the game with virtual desktop enabled, you must also set "Automatically capture the mouse in full-screen windows".

Tested systems:

  • AMD R7 1700 @ 3.7GHz, 16GB RAM, AMD RX 480 8GB (main system)
  • Intel i7-2600k @ 4.5GHz, 16GB RAM, Nvidia GTX 750 Ti
  • Intel i3-6100, 4GB RAM, Intel HD 530 graphics (the game ran but was unplayable on this system, with very poor visual quality and performance)

All running Linux Mint 18.x with kernel 4.13.0-38 and stable Mesa from Padoka's PPA (for AMD/Intel graphics) or Nvidia's proprietary drivers. While the game starts on the system with Intel graphics, it is inadequate for actually playing it due to poor performance and visual quality.
