What works

It *seems* that the game works, it's loading the:

- Menus;

- Music;

- Videos;

- Match...

What does not

The introduction video lags a lot.

What was not tested

As the 256 colors are all messed up I couldn't test many options, they aren't readable...

Additional Comments

You can replicate my results by fallowing these steps: (Sorry about English errors, it's not my primary language) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 1) Create a Wine 32 bits profile: $ WINEPREFIX=$HOME/.wine32 WINEARCH='win32' wine 'wineboot' ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 2) Mount the game ISO or insert the game CD to Install it (Full installation): $ WINEPREFIX=$HOME/.wine32 wine /media/cdrom/setup.exe ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 3) Now we need to make the game access some of it's own files. You can configure Wine to read the CD or a backup ISO: a) Read the CD: it has to be mounted as "/dev/cdrom" and you can force Wine to recognize it with this command: $ WINEPREFIX=$HOME/.wine32 winecfg and going to "Drivers", selecting "Auto Detect" and "Apply". Done. b) If your CD is damaged and the only thing you have is a backup ISO file: let's make Wine read it mounted with this workaround: Basically: $ sudo mkdir /media/cd $ sudo nano /etc/fsbab add this on the bottom: /dev/cdrom /media/cd auto ro,user,noauto,unhide 0 0 save and close (CTRL+O, Enter, CTRL+X). restart your PC. And correctly remount the game like this: $ sudo mount -t iso9660 -o loop ~/backups/fallenhaven.iso /media/cd run: $ WINEPREFIX=$HOME/.wine32 winecfg go to "Drivers", select "Auto Detect" and "Apply". Done. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 4) Still in winecfg, select "Applications" and change the general version to "Windows 95". ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 5) Now we have to take care of some dependencies: a) Copy "~/.wine32/drive_c/I-Magic/Fallen/System/WAVEMIX.INI" to "~/.wine32/drive_c/windows/"; b) Copy the files in "~/.wine32/drive_c/I-Magic/Fallen/System/SYSTEM" to "~/.wine32/drive_c/windows/system32"; c) Install Indeo Video 3.2 Codec: You *could* do it using winetricks: $ winetricks icodecs but it doesn't work... THE TRICK is download the installer from the internet to run in the custom mode selecting only the Indeo Video 3.2 Codec option. Be patient. Download: Install: $ WINEPREFIX=$HOME/.wine32 wine ./Downloads/iv5setup.exe ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 6) Disable the introduction movie (because it freezes!). Go to "~/.wine/drive_c/I-Magic/Fallen/Video" and rename "fallen.avi" to "fallen-nope.avi". ----- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 7) Now we need the 256 colors, and here is the problem!! I'm going to tell you the the closest I could get. ----- We'll create a nested 1024x768 8bits XServer window and run inside it the metacity compositor with the game. Here are the steps: $ sudo apt install xserver-xephyr metacity $ Xephyr -ac -screen 1024x768x8 :1 & $ DISPLAY=:1 metacity & $ DISPLAY=:1 wine "/home/victor/.wine/drive_c/I-Magic/Fallen/Exe/fallen.exe" End of line. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ I think Fallen Haven and many other games are going to run through wine when some hero teach us how to enable the 256 colors mode. As I'm still a "noob", I don't even know if it's possible... I'm just trying. Note: the colors and the match runs in ReactOS 0.4.5 (VirtualBox) using its 256 colors mode, but the menu and audio are very broken. The installer is not supported (wow16), so I had to copy the files and the registers manually. Well, that's all.
