What works

  • Installer
  • Most gameplay

What does not

  • Part of the intro - as a Chaos mage in the Illuminati, there is a part of the intro in which I went outside. The game consistently crashed until I passed it in Windows.
  • Enable Strict Draw Ordering to reduce flickering - same as previous Secret World
  • The game seems to crash shortly after load on wine 2.11, but works on 2.10.

HowTo / Notes

Additional Programs needed to run the Installation Routine

This game needs an additional package to start the installation called d3dcompiler_43 which can be installed by issuing the command.

$ winetricks -q d3dcompiler_43

Winetricks can usually be installed using your distribution's package manager but should be updated to make sure you are using the latest version of the winetricks script using:

# winetricks --self-update

Fixing no buttons, no text, no banner oin Patcher, when using DXVK
by Chris on Saturday April 18th 2020, 3:40
I just wanted to mention that when using DXVK (1.6 here) you might run into the problem of not seeing any buttons, text, patching progress or banner. This will prevent you from starting the game.

It appears to be related to DirectX 9 being used by the patcher. Setting the environment variable WINEDLLOVERRIDES=d3d9=b when starting wine/the game will fix this issue.

An alternative and permanent way of setting this is opening winecfg, going to libraries, scrolling down to d3d9 and setting it to builtin.
Vulkan?

Has anyone tried this with Vulkan? Does it fix some of the shader weirdness?

haven't done much with vulkan, but it runs really nice, bit low on the FPS compared to windows, but it looks really pretty using the gallium nine patches.

Yes it does, I submitted a new report. Game does not officially support vulkan but using DXVK directx11 dll's fix all graphical issues.
