The DRM-free version of the game available at GOG.com and on the GOG Galaxy client.
Game seems to work, but 32-bit wine's frame rate is slower than with wine-2.0.4. Better than wine-4.0, though, as it is still playable. Wine64 seems okay, but it did hang when I tried to exit the game, however.
What does not
Screens sometimes get stuck for a long time (tens of seconds) or even hang permanently.
Gamepads require koku-xinput-wine kludge to work.
I used the koku-xinput-wine dynamic library from https://github.com/KoKuToru/koku-xinput-wine .
What was not tested
I did not play the game thoroughly, as I am trying multiple versions of wine to see if I can figure out at which point it became impossible to play cuphead.
Although 3.0.5 works, I will probably stick with wine-2.0.4 which plays this game more smoothly.
