The DRM-free version of the game available at GOG.com and on the GOG Galaxy client.
Everything but controller support seems to work perfectly (tested most of the first world) out of the box. Dualshock 4 support needs a workaround, read below.
Tested using Lutris with the GOG version of the game. Running on 1080p, Vsync on, with constant 60 FPS. On a Dell Inspirion 5547 notebook, AMD Radeon R7 M265, 16GB RAM, Intel i7-4510U.
The GOG installer finished with an error, but the game seems to be working just fine.
What does not
Controller support (at least for Dualshock 4 controllers) is broken, but is easily solvable.
The game supports Dualshock 4 controllers natively on Windows, but it doesn't work on out of the box on Wine.
Download x360ce (32-bit), place it on the same folder as Cuphead.exe, and run it using Wine. Configure it accordingly (I downloaded a Rocket League configuration and it works just fine). Generate the xinput1_3.dll file by saving the configurations and close the program.
Go to your Wine configuration panel, Libraries tab, and add an override to xinput1_3. Edit the new override on the "Existing overrides" box and select "Native (Windows)". Apply, close, and you're done.
This is probably not needed if you have a Xbox 360/One controller, but if the game doesn't recognize your controller, just go through the steps above and configure your x360ce template accordingly.
What was not tested
Two players co-op. Probably works with a player using a controller, and the other using the keyboard, but I'm not sure about two players using controllers.
