What works

Installing via Steam.

What does not

The game almost launches, but then crashes to the desktop without an error.  This may be related to the game's intro video failing to play correctly, as the following line appears right before the crash in the terminal output:

"err:msvideo:ICLocate Required media codec 'vidc IV50' not found!"

However, there is no simple way to bypass the intro video in the Steam version.

Workarounds

HowTo / Notes

HOWTO

Do winetricks icodecs directplay.

Once Steam and the game is installed, you need to do the following to keep the game from crashing after the intro videos:

  1. Go to the drive_c/Program Files/Steam/steamapps/common/STAR WARS - Galactic Battlegrounds Saga/Game directory inside the wine prefix.
  2. Rename win32.dll to win32.dll.org,
  3. Copy win32.win7.dll to win32.dll.

Game should work normally now, if not please comment / submit test results!

The howto says to copy win32.win7.dll to win32.dll place, but fails to mention where to get said win32.win7.dll...
