What works
Installation.
Single-player campaigns.
No issues playing the game.
What does not
Maximum resolution I could select was 1024x768 (1280x1024 could not be selected).
Workarounds
Use a clean WIN32 wine prefix. Select 'Windows 7' as default OS.
Do "winetricks icodecs directplay".
Once Steam and the game is installed, you need to do the following to keep the game from crashing after the intro videos:
1. Go to the "drive_c/Program Files/Steam/steamapps/common/STAR WARS - Galactic Battlegrounds Saga/Game" directory inside the wine prefix.
2. Rename win32.dll to win32.dll.org,
3. Copy win32.win7.dll to win32.dll.
Game should work normally now.

There are some community patches which supposedly let you use a higher resolution. I did not try any of those since the ones I looked at needed .NET 3.5 which I have not had good luck with under Wine
