What works

The beginning movie with audio when the game starts.

What does not

Almost everything does not work.

After the beginning movie, the game hangs with the workshop background sound.

So cannot even enter the main menu, cannot play the game at all.

Workarounds

I did not test the installation, but I use an installed and working copy directly. It is installed in Windows.

What was not tested

Almost everything, since cannot even enter the game.

Both with and without playonlinux have been tested.

Hardware tested

Graphics:

  • GPU: Nvidia
  • Driver: proprietary

Additional Comments

I have applied all tweaks Cláudio Sampaio (Patola) has mentioned, such as: windowed or fullscreen 1280x720, Windows XP 64-bit mode, install vcrun2012, xaudio and xact, disable GLSL, enable strict ordering, etc.

But still, nothing works, cannot get past the beginning movie, cannot see the main menu.

HowTo / Notes

Small howto
  • winetricks (or add through playonlinux, etc.) xaudio and xact. Not sure if xaudio is really needed. That turns on sound.
  • Disable GLSL
  • If you're having crashes, try to enable strict ordering. Sometimes it help running the game. Afterwards, turn it off because it greatly slows the framerate.
  • It has random crashes. Sometimes without even changing any settings, it crashes when run. Then you try again and it runs. Once you get to the main screen, though, it should be stable.
