What works
I completed the game 100% using a PlayStation controller.
What does not
The audio issues that other users have mentioned (incorrect volumes, mixing and clipping), but there is a workaround available.
Workarounds
To fix the audio problems, install xact with winetricks xact. Then in winecfg, enable native DLL overrides for xaudio2_0.dll to xaudio2_9.dll.
What was not tested
I haven't tested any mods for the game yet.
