Workarounds

Install a new fresh wineprefix, I used a 32-bit version, and install the following:

• vcrun6 (for the installer)
• vcrun2008 (for the game itself, the installer offer you if not present)
• amstream
• quartz

The amstream and quartz are needed for the cutscenes to play and if not present the game skip those and game continue.

• xvid

The xvid is needed for the opening and if not present the game is soft lock when you past the intro level of the game, with a blank screen with the music playing but nothing happens.

• direcxt9 (full installation)
• directplay
• directmusic

The directx9 is needed for the game to play but not tested if the full installation is needed or only some dll.

The directplay and directmusic are optional but in this test were installed just in case.

Then the game play normal and almost not drop in frames, the music sound OK, the cutscenes play fine but the opening is choppy.

By the way my Specs are Intel Core2 Duo 3.6ghz, 4GB RAM, Nvidia GeForce 780.

What was not tested

• A winprefix 64-bit version.
• If directx9 full is completely needed or only some dll.
• If directplay and directmusic are need to install separatly.
• If amstream and quartz are need after install xvid.
• Install and test if is woriking: directx10, directx11, directx12.

Additional Comments

Intel Core2 Duo 3.6ghz, 4GB RAM, Nvidia GeForce 780 on a Linux Mint 18.2 x64 machine.
