Install from Steam appears to work, first run seems to install everything okay except for "Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 x86" as found in logs/runprocess_log.txt with the following log entry:
05/20/18 00:25:08 [AppID 359550] Exit Code (1) : "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege\_CommonRedist\vcredist\2015\Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 x86.cmd" GLE 0
It runs the first-run install for MS VS C++ 2015 every time I click Play. After it performs that step every time, it appears to run for a few seconds (nothing comes up on the screen, however) and exits.

Fresh wine prefix with "winetricks corefonts", and fixes to make Steam show webpages (the command line flag + setting the two Steam programs to run in Windows XP Mode, but everything else runs as Windows 7).
