What works
The installer will install the required dependencies automatically if they are not found on Wine, which are .NET Framework 4.5 as well as Visual C++ 2015 Update 3 (x86).
What does not
The installer will not be able to complete the installation citing that it "does not support the necessary level of DirectX required for VitalSource Bookshelf".
The software itself will not run at all.
Workarounds
Orca can be used to edit the .MSI that is extracted from the installer to ignore DirectX check and complete the installation process.
