What works
The fancy loading splash sceen
What does not
It takes about 10 mintes to start up. Since its a retail-only version, it asks immediately for a key. The key registration accepts a key but does not continue from there, making it basically useless. I left it running for about 20 minutes with no change. Restarting it again only made it ask for the key again. While in this state it uses 100% of cpu.
This makes it pretty much garbage for actual usage.

This has been a problem for a long time with newsleecher. The output of the console is not showing any critical errors that would indicate the reason for this (just a lot of fixme for window layout and such) and it just sits there.
