Demo and Retail versions of Reason are the same.
Loading projects. Playing loaded demos and songs. File browsing. Creating instruments. Using sequencer display. Audio. Selecting and using a control surface (Novation Launchkey49). Saving and loading a project.
What does not
Can not open menu bar via mouse, but can with keyboard (Alt key followed by Down key) and then use a mouse or keyboard to select options.
May not have access to all system drives or folders, but will have access to the current users home folder.
Copy msmpeg2vdec.dll and msmpeg2adec.dll from a Windows installation (I did from Windows 10 from C:\Windows\System32\).
And put them in .\.wine\windows\system32\
I set winecfg to "Windows 10".
To access the menu bar, press the Alt key once (the File menu may not show as highlighted), followed by the down arrow. Then the File menu will drop down. You can use the right arrow to get to the next menu dropdown options or use the mouse or keyboard to select menu items just like in Windows.
What was not tested
Have not yet tested all of the instruments or audio recording.
Visually, it is not perfect but very usable. Window sliders are not as clear but if you are familiar with the Windows or Mac version, then you will know where to click.
The highlighted blocks in the sequencer display may not appear perfect, but that does not hinder usability.
When attempting to load a file, you might only be able to access the users home folder by default. Other folder options may appear blank. There is a popup error when attempting to enter a different folder. Just select "OK' and ignore. It will not stop you entering a folder.
