What works

Installation, sound, the in-game 2D graphics.

What does not

Until you activate one of the 3D functionalities (like tactical reference aircrafts/vehicles view in the menu), the GUI works great. But if you select an option where 3D view is used, the whole GUI repaint freezes then (clicking still works, only it doesn't get refreshed).

It's the same when entering the simulator then. The game is not playable, because everything is black. Sound and controls work though.

BadPixmap error on startup
by Xwang on Sunday January 3rd 2010, 8:31
Hi to all,
when I start FalconAF, Iobtain the error reported below.
My system is a kubuntu 9.10 amd64 with nvidia 173.14.20 binary driver (from ubuntu repos).
Wine --version: wine-1.1.35

taskset -c 1 env WINEPREFIX="/home/andreak/.wine" wine "C:\Programmi\Lead Pursuit\Battlefield Operations\FalconAF.exe"
Warning: could not find DOS drive for current working directory '/home/andreak', starting in the Windows directory.

Does the same happens to you? If not, how can I solve?

Hi,

No, I don't have these problems. But some google-research found a lot of threads/bug-reports with your error:
bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=8470
bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=7959
and lots more... ;)

Please try the solutions posted there or on the internet. If you've got it working, maybe you could drop a short note here.
Else please contact the wine-developers via bugzilla and ask for help there.

good luck, John

Oh, and maybe upgrade your falcon: www.lead-pursuit.com/downloads.htm
I'm using 1.0.13, but the auto-updater isn't working yet

I've update to 1.0.13 and the problem has ben solved.
Now the game works very well.
I will test it soon using a joystick.
Thank you,
Xwang
Works except HiTiles
by mase on Friday December 4th 2009, 17:07
Since wine 1.1.34 Falcon 4 AF works. But if I activate HiTiles,
I get an error "Could not read far image".
updated FalconAF doesn't work
by Matevž Jekovec on Friday September 4th 2009, 4:47
I have FalconAF 1.0.13.80119 and the menus work ok, but when the 3d engine is initialized (eg. tactical reference or the mission), it crashes saying MSVC error "buffer overrun detected".
