Additional Comments

My system is a Dell XPS 8930 with the following relevant hardware.

Intel i7-8700 CPU
AMD RX580 Graphics

I'm using the default open source driver that comes with Fedora 28. Same goes for the stock version of Mesa. I know we not supposed to mention dxvk in the wine testing results. But with dxvk version 0.54 and WINE-Staging 3.9 I was able to play ESO with no graphics corruption at all. The ground textures were fine as was the player leaving no funky trails behind as they moved about. The frame rates were higher (90ish) on average but also dipped lower (30ish) more frequently. The FPS were mostly in the 50-70 range but still dropping and shooting back up often. In Devon's Watch the FPS was about 30-40. It was mostly smooth gameplay but did jerk out a few times. Not horrendously though. In contrast with OpenGL the FPS was mostly around 60ish but stayed more constant only dropping sharply when in cities.

Of everything I tested it was playable as long as you don't expect crazy high frame rates. WINE-staging and dxvk is far from perfect but it did allow me to play ESO properly.

ESO Launcher Stuck in Loading solution
by wavejumper on Friday July 20th 2018, 4:48
So I am posting this comment to inform people on what is causing this problem in some distributions regardless of wine version. I have always had this problem with my Slackware installations, both 14.2 and current even after fresh installs and have all dependencies met. I'm cross-linking to the post I posted on the Lutris forum about this. In my case this also affected Steam not connecting to the servers. Please if there is a better way to maybe inform developers etc... I'm glad to do so as I'm lost on how to do it and who to contact.
