What works

Installed through Steam on wine, DX9 mode was fine. All the boards tested were fine. Performance seemed normal. No glitches found in the game.

What does not

PBAConfig.exe still doesn't work, so you can't use it on Linux to change your video settings... however, as Mark Schreiber noted, if you manage to run PBAConfig.exe on Windows (real machine or virtual machine), you'll generate a settings.dat file that you can copy to your wine prefix.

DX11 mode did not work.

Workarounds

Quoting Mark Schreiber

The PBAConfig.exe utility creates a 44-byte "settings.dat" file in ~/.wine/drive_c/users/currentuser/My Games/Pinball Arcade/settings.dat.  This contains the resolution and fullscreen settings.

I was able to start a Windows 7 VM, generate this file with appropriate settings using PBAConfig.exe there (which, confusingly-to-me, was located at "c:/users/currentuser/My Games/Pinball Arcade" and Pinball Arcadesettings.dat also in My Games, in the VM, and then overwrite the "settings.dat" file on the Linux machine using the generated file.  After that, the game ran in fullscreen and at full resolution in WINE.

Personally, I had this file already from a Windows Installation (dual-boot). Also copied to "c:/users/currentuser/My Documents/My Games/Pinball Arcade" and "Pinball Arcadesettings.dat" just to make sure.

Additional Comments

Great Game.

Tested with the unofficial DXVK patchset. However it didn't load the DX11 mode (only the DX9 mode).
