What works

Moving Sync folders, indexing, syncing, general application usage.

Sometimes your new installation will be suspended automatically after the install process.
To provision your new device:
Go to your account settings on the website and active the device you named after installation under the section "Devices".

What does not

There are various errors you may get while navigating the preferences menus, you just cancel through those and the application appears to work fine otherwise.

Workarounds

At first the installation hung on "Checking for Network Connectivity". If this happens, I was able to force the install through on a 64-bit prefix by using winetricks:

winetricks crypt32 dotnet462 wininet

On occasion you may get "exceeded network quota" via the taskbar sync.com icon. You can just click the icon and select "Resume Sync" and it will resume just fine, but I have found that opening the preferences and going to the "Progress" tab while keeping the window in focus seems to cut down or eliminate this error entirely.

The "network quota" error described above will most likely only surface on extremely large files or the initial file sync.

What was not tested

No account changes were made (such as changing the password with the desktop client).

  • GPU: AMD
  • Driver: open source

Additional Comments

Sometime later I migrated my sync.com client to a 32-bit wine prefix (but otherwise conducting everything else as I did before) and I seem to get the network quota less often, but I still get it daily. All I do is force quit the process, reopen sync client, and let it continue syncing.
