What works

(tested with Version 2.00.00)

C++ Compiler/Assembler/Linker cl6x.exe

COFF Object file comparator: cmpti.exe

This application was installed on a pee cee at work. I copied the installation to a RH9 box we have. I used the windows application to generate a makefile for our existing dsp application build. The generated makefile required some tweaking (to change file & path names from dos->unix format), and adding .exe to executables. Once done, however, I was pleased to see that the compiler worked without a hitch and I was able to build the application in linux after ony a aday of effort.

I used the COFF file comparator to check several of the obj files with those generated by the Windows installation and verified that these were identical.

What does not

Gui application cc_app.exe fails with about 10 fixme msgs, and an error "Can't create CTM obj"

This is the main application for Code Composer.

The cc_setup runs but I can't tell if there are will be any problems with the resulting setup.

Make gmake.exe

The build does not work well in a clearcase dynamic view. If the build fails, subsequent attempts to run wine result in the "can't bind to socket even though we have the lock" error (paraphrased) that I have seen others mention. I think this is a clearcase/wine issue. No problems in a snapshot view.

What was not tested

Installation of the product with wine.

Additional Comments

Getting the application away from windows allows me to build my dsp application remotely (rlogin from home) or to include it in a nightly (automated) build process. Without this, one has to attend to the build, manually, at the pee cee, and, in our case, checkin the resulting image to clearcase. I am reporting "Runs?" as "No" as the main application cc_app doesn't run. I am reporting "Installs?" as "No" because I did not use wine to install the application.
