Version 3 includes several new tournament types and scoring methods, more options for data exchange, completely new web result format (XML-based) and a lot more. The basic user interface is unchanged.

What works
Installing the local test club (installation type 5). Entering the 6 digit (testing) code at every login.
Entering a new movement scheme ("Skifteplan") for a team tournament for 10 teams, including using the special button to autogenerate the right half from the left (copying and turning 90 degrees from open to closed room).
Printing table cards ("Bordplancher") to PDF via Cups-PDF. Exporting a movement scheme to text file format (.lcd).
Creating a new tournament. Importing the list of teams/players from a CSV file, including automatically fetching Master Point (MP) data for them. Generating the XML files needed for upload to web. Printing the starting positions ("Startliste") to PDF via Cups-PDF.
What does not
Login/use in a unmodified Wine almost certainly doesn't work (see workarounds).
Changing the finish time for the tournament (informational only) was virtually impossible, and changing any of the times of day was hard. Lots of automatic unwanted changes happened at mouse/focus enter-exit events, no matter whether keyboard or touchpad used. The times of day for start as well as finish could be entered without problem on Windows 10.
Workarounds
Just as for previous versions of BridgeCentral, I assume that bug 26226 still applies: you have to either "winetricks msxml3" before installing, or, as I always do, build Wine from source with my patch from the bug report applied. Thus the above test results are not from a pure wine 3.4 but from wine 3.4 + my patch (+ the improved debug.patch uploaded to bug 26226 March 2018). Note that BridgeCentral is a 32 bit app. Only tested in a pure 32 bit wine build + prefix, even though the host OS is 64 bit Linux. BridgeCentral 3 was succesfully installed in the same (patched) prefix as the 2.4.5 installation.
What was not tested
Lots and lots of features. E.g. actually uploading the generated XML files to web fails in Wine as well as Windows because we currently only use the free test database and haven't yet asked to have our official club database converted to the new version. (The database structure has been fundamentally changed).
