Retail/Download Edition 1.3.9
The installer works fine.
After workarounds (q.v.), the game runs as expected.
What does not
After installation, running the application results in an unhandled exception after the program tries to set various fullscreen graphics modes. This prevents the application from running. (See workarounds for this.)
I found two workarounds for the issue. You can use one or the other (both aren't required).
In the Windows user's documents folder, there is an OPTIONS.TXT file in My Game/Slitherine/FieldOfGlory2 directory. Make a backup copy of this. Edit the original OPTIONS.TXT to and change the following:
RezX [Your Display's Horizonal Resolution]
RezY [Your Display's Vertical Resolution]
Save the OPTIONS.TXT file and start the game. This should get you past the unhandled exception setting the fullscreen graphics mode.
I found that if I ran Wine 3.10 Staging with the Gallium Nine patches, the game will start and run without making any changes to the OPTIONS.TXT file. (It also has better graphics performance, although when using this configuration I noted one non-critical glitch where text can be seen outside of its GUI "scroll-box" area. This doesn't really affect the playability.)
What was not tested
I tested with the amdgpu driver.
