What works

Everything works perfectly, except for a minor detail, pertaining to a buffer overflow when querying OpenGL extensions. The issue exists in Windows as well, but some vendors provide workarounds in their drivers.

That can be worked around in various ways, but Intel users should take note of the information available at https://www.mesa3d.org/applica..., under “Old OpenGL games”.

Given that the Windows version of Steam does not allow setting environment variables, one can prepend MESA_EXTENSION_MAX_YEAR=2001 to the command line when running Steam.

Workaround for a crash

If you notice the crash during game start, it could be caused by issue in AMD/Mesa drivers.

To workaround it, run the game with following environment variables set:

 NVidia: __GL_ExtensionStringVersion=17700 wine WolfSP.exe
 Intel/AMD: MESA_EXTENSION_MAX_YEAR=2005 wine WolfSP.exe
