What works

What works are the installation, menu, credits, options menu (including changing the resolution), sound, music.

The game starts.

What does not

The demo game is unplayable, because of an extremely low frame rate (about 2 fps).

What was not tested

Tried to test everything.

Hardware tested

  • GPU: Nvidia
  • Driver: proprietary

Additional Comments

Game runs at about 2 fps, despite using about 110% (1+ core) on an i7-4770K system with a GTX 1060 6G and 16GB DDR3. Tried to make the demo game playable by:

  • Switching from 64-bit to 32-bit-only (removed ~/wine, used "export WINEARCH=win32"). No visible improvement.
  • Switching to Windows 95 mode with winecfg. No visible improvement.
  • Switching the game from 1024x768 to the lowest available resolution (640x480). No visible improvement.
  • Changing DefaultDepth and Depth /etc/X11/xorg.conf from 24 to 16, because the console displayed errors "0009:fixme:x11drv:X11DRV_desktop_SetCurrentMode Cannot change screen BPP from 32 to 16". This changed the errors to "003c:err:d3d:context_choose_pixel_format Trying to locate a compatible pixel format because an exact match failed.". No visible improvement.

Nothing I've tried appeared to improve the frame rate.
