What works
Single player game modes.
What does not
When creating a new player profile, the prompt for entering a name use a transparent font over a transparent background, that might trick the user into thinking what they write is not taken into account.
Without a WINE virtual desktop, only a black screen is rendered.
Workarounds
The game should be run in a WINE virtual desktop to prevent rendering problems.
What was not tested
Multiplayer game modes.
Hardware tested

Additional Comments
The game music does not play during gameplay, but I do not have access to Windows to check if it is a problem there too.

Ubuntu 20.04.6 LTS
Wine 8.0.1
32-bit prefix
The following scenarios worked:
1. Windows machine hosting an Internet TCP/IP game, Linux machine able to see and join via Internet TCP/IP
2. Windows machine hosting a LAN TCP/IP game, Linux machine able to see and join LAN TCP/IP
3. Linux machine hosting an Internet TCP/IP game, Windows machine able to see and join via Internet TCP/IP
4. Linux machine hosting a LAN TCP/IP game, Windows machine joining by specifying the IP via Internet TCP/IP "Show games" option. The Linux hosted LAN game didn't seem to automatically show up for the Windows machine when using the Join LAN option, but worked when specifying the IP. This could be due to local settings on the machine.
These tests did NOT go through a full game to see if desyncs or disconnects happen. A game was able to be started in each instance without issue, however.

- Emulate a virtual desktop turned on
- Directplay installed via winetricks
