Workarounds
Install the dependencies listed on VPVP and gdiplus.
DirectDraw renderer should be set to OpenGL.
To enable AVI rendering, install devenum, quartz, then extract dxnt.cab
from the DirectX 2010 February installer (found in .cache/winetricks)
with cabextract. Extract qcap.dll and qedit.dll from the cab to
system32, then set the override for this dlls to native and native,
builtin for d3d9.
Upon first run, check "Separate window" in View.

Additional Comments
Installing MikuMikuEffect may cause performance issues, but this depends on how up-to-date your OS is.
If you're in doubt regarding your DirectX installation, install both dxfullsetup and directx9 (if present in vanilla Winetricks).
AVI rendering fails in the 64-bit version.
