Additional Comments

Runs great in a stock 32-bit prefix with no winetricksery required.

Riven is a point-and-click adventure games composed of still images and video. There seems to be a small glitch that give the video elements a faint green tint. This happens on Windows 10 as well. It's most likely an issued with ScummVM, which is included in the GOG re-release to allow this 1997 game to run on modern systems. It doesn't interfere with gameplay.

A blank "ScummVM Status" window appears when running via Wine but not on Windows 10. It's harmless; so I'm not deducting a rating for it.

GOG version of Riven with Wine 5.x and PlayOnLinux
by Bob Newell on Saturday May 30th 2020, 15:44
Just a note: installing the GOG version with PlayOnLinux works fine; there are a few errors at the end that can be ignored. When I set up a shortcut to the Riven launcher I got an error about scummvm not finding paths. The way to do it is to set up a shortcut to scummvm.exe itself. Then when you run it you can add the game easily to the scummvm menu and set up the graphics options in whatever way is optimal for your system. This makes for one extra mouseclick when starting the game, but the results are 100% perfect platinum.
