What works

The installer can be launched.

What does not

In short: DLL trouble. In long, the .NET Framework v3.5 SP1 DLL is required for the installer to finish executing. The installer allegedly comes with another installer for that DLL, however when it gets to that part of the process an error message appears demanding that the user fiddle with the Control Panel. After clicking through said message, the DLL installer will execute but will hang indefinitely, forcing the user to kill both installers manually through a task manager. 

Subsequent installs after such an error require that the user manually wipe Gamemaker's data from C:\Program Files\Gamemaker Studio 2, as the uninstaller both in the menu and in Wine's uninstaller do not function correctly due to incorrectly assuming that Gamemaker is running when no such process exists. After that, the Wine uninstaller must be used to trick Wine to wipe it from the program list, as the Gamemaker installer uses that list to determine if the program is already installed or not.

Workarounds

I attempted to use Winetricks (v20180603) to install the DLLs that the Gamemaker installer would normally install through their installer. However, the exact same problem occured the exact same way after this workaround was attempted.

What was not tested

• Gamemaker itself, as the installer could not be bypassed.
• Accessing the Control Panel as per the error message's suggestion, for obvious reasons.
• Have not attempted use of the Steam version.

Additional Comments

The operating system used in this test is a version of Fedora 28 which uses the Cinnamon desktop. Other than that, it should be identical to Fedora itself.

Also, the version used is downloaded directly from the YoYo Games website. I highly recommend all others do the same in order to document versions properly and to avoid potential issues with Steam. That being said, Steam may prove useful in causing this program to work.
