This game is affected by Bug #44395 when using the proprietary Nvidia driver (version '390.48-0ubuntu3' in this test). It cases an immediate crash on application start.

Workarounds

Disable the wine-preloader with...

sudo chmod -x /opt/wine-staging/wine-preloader
