What works

The game starts normally and runs like native! All modes are smoothly playable and there are no graphics or gameplay bugs (only those that occur also in the Windows version).

Plugin Support also works!

I play the game for almost 2 years on Linux and since the Wine version 6 it runs incredibly stable!

What does not

  1. With client updates the progress bar is not displayed correctly
  2. Client freezes very rarely (not sure if this is a Wine problem)
  3. A small problem I have with Wine games in general: with multiple monitors the game doesn't start on the main screen in the middle, but always on the right one (I have a 3 monitor setup). All modes are playable and so far I haven't noticed any bugs caused by Wine (just the same bugs that the native Win version has)



    Workarounds

    1. Just wait! Update will be installed!
    2. Wait or kill all Wine Processes (e.g. with Lutris)
    3. Move Window to the right Monitor

    Wine Version

    Make sure you use a wine version > 5.9. Prior versions suffer from a bug that causes the client to constantly crash when downloading the initial assets (https://bugs.winehq.org/show_b...). This has been fixed in wine versions > 5.9.

    Other wine versions with known issues for MTGA:

    Workaround: Mouse focus issue

    After you moved your mouse outside the client or switched to a different virtual desktop, MTGA will not regain focus if you get back to the application.

    To fix this focus issue you can  add a registry key by running: 

    wine reg ADD 'HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Wine\X11 Driver' /v UseTakeFocus /d 'N' /f
