Graphics,Music,Gameplay,Loading and Saving,Exiting game.
What does not
Videos wont play properly without setting binkw32.dll to native.
Sluggish gameplay and video playback without turning csmt off.
Short: create prefix,copy gamedir to prefix,set windowsxp,set binkw32 to native,turn off csmt,run main.exe
Create prefix: WINEPREFIX=/your_vampirestory_prefix WINARCH=win32 wineboot
Copy gamedir ,A Vampire Story, from steamapps to the new prefix,
ie. cp "/SteamLibrary/SteamApps/common/A Vampyre Story"/ "/your_wineprefix/c_drive/Program Files"/
(this implies a freshly downloaded game from steam without any tampering)
Start up winecfg (WINEPREFIX=/your_vampirestory_prefix/ winecfg)
Set Windows version to WindowsXP or else it won't launch properly,leaving a frozen window.
Go to the libraries tab and type in binkw32.dll and add it, and set it to windows native type.
Without this override movies won't be displayed, only music will be heard.
Game renders at 1024x768 so you might want to run it in a window, go to the graphics tab and tick "emulate a virtual desktop"
and set desktop size to 1024x768.
Now to disable csmt or else game will run very slow,
WINEPREFIX=/your_vampirestory_prefix wine regedit
go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Wine/
right click and create Key, name it "Direct3D" without the quotes.
next create a DWord value inside "Direct3D" and name it "csmt" without the quotes, datavalue should be 0 or else change it.
you should now have HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Wine/Direct3D with a csmt value inside it.
play the game:
cd "/your_vampirestory_prefix/drive_c/Program Files/A Vampyre Story/game"/
WINEPREFIX=/your_vampirestory_prefix wine main.exe
What was not tested
Full playthrough of the game.
