The problem that the previous user had about unimplemented functions was because he was using an old MFC42.dll (probably the one from DLL-files.com). I'm also not experiencing the problem with the sound and the menus, even with the old DLL.

In the newer version of wine 1.2+, the game becomes unstable if you use any of the menus or allow the program to lose focus. Make sure all the settings you want are set before you start the game, because you won't be able to change anything without it crashing afterwards. *Note: I am only able to test this on Ubuntu. Please, let me know if anyone else has this problem.

There is a minor tweak needed to get the emulator to run. There is a DLL that VisualBoy requires that Wine doesn't have, no one has decided to port the DLL to Wine.

With the new version of Wine (1.2), a couple before it as well, it winetricks is now included with Wine. Which makes this even easier.

Use this command:

winetricks mfc42

For older versions of wine:

Download Winetricks

Then Run this command:

sh winetricks mfc42
