What works

Installs without issue but requires MFC42.dll to run. Use "winetricks vcrun6" for this.

What does not

• Search-and-replace (Ctrl-H) does not work for case-by-case, only for "replace all."
• If a file changes on disk outside of the program, CE detects it and displays a "File has changed.... Reload?" dialog but then locks up completely and must be killed.
• As of Wine 1.3.20 the right-click dialog no longer works for the file tabs ("MDI file tabs") at the top of the window. Previously a menu was displayed with file-specific functions (Close, Close All, Reload, etc).
• F10: MS-DOS shell (somewhat expected)

Additional Comments

CE is a nice, compact text editor with lots of usability features -- column editing mode (love this), macros, syntax highlighting, auto-indent, restrict search/replace to a selection, regular expression search/replace (unusual for Windows-based editor), option to remove trailing whitespace on save, lots of hotkey shortcuts, and plenty of other nice details. I'd love to see a native Linux port, but until then (never), it runs very well under Wine.
