What works
Everything works beside of the initial installation of the game.
Its not clear at the moment, if crc errors in the Data.p4k breaking the installation.
CIG mentioned there is problems with the Data.p4k gets corrupted on transmission errors.
They have deployed a hotfix but its not working.
With wine, the basepack.p4k gets downloaded, it seems to install but does not download the big contents of the new created and obviously corrupt ~44gb Data.p4k file.
The launcher provides a "Launch Game" button then. Pressing that made the game fail to launch and the red verification request pops up.
Verifying the gamefiles crashes out on a corrupted Data.p4k file but is working on a valid Data.p4k file.
What does not
wine versions 3.19+ need a patch due to this bug:
#46099 (https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=46099)
wine versions up to 3.18 can not verify the gamefiles nor patch them.
That is fixed in later wine versions by this:
#45359 (https://bugs.winehq.org/show_b...) and #46130 (https://bugs.winehq.org/show_b...)
After the download of the basepack.p4k the launcher can not create a consistent Data.p4k and crashes on verification due to a corrupted Data.p4k .
Workarounds
After a failed installation, delete the corrupted Data.p4k file and get a new and consistent Data.p4k file, i.e. from a working Windows installation.
Just copy it in place, and verify the game. If the verification gets through then the Data.p4k file is consistent and the game must work.
What was not tested
Patching the game with the launcher was not tested but is expected to work on a consistent Data.p4k .
There is not PTU atm and no other patch from CIG for the live build so we simple have no patch to test with wine-3.21 yet.

Additional Comments
StarCitizen is an unfinished and in wide parts a very experimental software.
It barely works under Windows and the games behavior can change from patch to patch.
That is valid for both, wine and the game.
You need to keep in mind, that SC is under Linux - when it bugs - a very direct failing software.
Errors and problems from the game can be swallowed by a full blown Windows, but fail instantly on a very strict ruled wine.
To keep Windows standarts up and help solve issues in wine as well as in SC, i can not advise 3rd party experimental wine builds.
SC needs a strict Windows ruleset what is broken already by patching esync, staging or other patches into the wine source.
Please keep that in mind, its all very experimental at this moment.
Due to full access of the Persistent Universe since PTU 3.3 i have rated this game Silver now.
